One of the hard things about going to school out of state is having to leave loved ones behind. Jenna and I have been friends ever since grade school, so our reunions are always joyous and looked forward to. We always try our best to find fun, new places to check out when we are together.

Jenna had heard of the Succulent Cafe, and after some research on Yelp, we decided to do some exploring today. This is such a fun, quirky coffee shop! It's tucked behind an old wooden building. You venture through a gate to find a beautiful patio side yard filled with all sorts of succulents and fountains.

I stole this top from my sister for the day (shhh - it's a secret). I've been loving a simple, casual look for every day wear lately. If you are wanting to find a few new pieces for a good price, you can always find some cute basics on websites like StyleWe.

A Little Journey

Life is a crazy thing - it's a roller coaster, changing minute by minute. You never know what will be around the next bend, drop or curve. Sometimes this translates as excitement in our lives, other times dread. Either way, the change is inevitable.

I've had a lot of changes in my life lately, though I am happy to say most of them have been beautiful and lovely. As most of you know, I took a leap and flew across the country last year to attend college in Virginia. I fell in love with the state; the culture, the laid back attitude, the woods - real woods. And I met the love of my life. Who I am happy to announce, I am now engaged to! I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and adventure buddy, and to grow in the Lord together. I've learned things this past year - I've changed. I have new perspectives on things and I've learned to embrace independence wholeheartedly. There have been tears shed from missing my family, being sick countless times and hours spent studying math (no, I haven't learned to love equations just yet).

With all of this said, it's been a busy year. Every minute was filled with hard work, adventure and (much needed) sleep. Many of you have probably wondered why I fell off the face of the earth, and why my posts have grown more and more sporadic. Let's get this out there right off the bat - I still enjoy blogging and I am still continuing to blog! I am currently in the process of re-branding, and I am hoping in about a years time, I will be able to reveal all of the changes that will be taking place around here. Be rest assured, I'll be throwing out little sneak peeks and hints here and there ;) In the meantime things will continue on like they used to around here, just a bit less often than in the old days. Quality over quantity folks!

On a more fun note, this dress I am wearing is from Romwe. I've been crazy about the color blue this year. I took a digital fashion design course for my merchandising minor this past semester, and my designs were all centered around various shades of china blue. This dress is so perfect for Summer - light, breezy and let's be honest; the halter neckline is gorgeous.

Recently I had the opportunity to shoot pictures with Caroline of Hill City Cookies. She started baking cookies for the Liberty University Lacrosse team, and after time, her famous cookies had everyone wanting more. I discovered her cookie making business through a Facebook page, and knew I just had to learn more about her process and snap some images along the way!
