Finding Modest Clothing

June 30, 2015

Let's be real here, finding modest clothing, isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world these days. I do find it important to dress modestly. Personally, modesty for me is a form of self respect. It's having the confidence to say, " I don't need to flaunt myself to the world in order to feel beautiful." There is such a classy elegance about a modestly dressed woman..

With that said, the biggest difficulty I find when searching for a modest piece is short length. I am a very tall gal, 5'11" to be exact. Dresses are virtually impossible to find in a length that I like. So when a company comes along like eShakti, you bet your stilettos I'm all aboard! I first discovered eShakti about a year ago, when they contacted me about a collaboration. Now listen here, Girls... every one of their dresses can be customized to your measurements, your desired length and even your neckline/sleeve style of choice! I have never received an eShakti dress I didn't love for that very reason. And the dresses are made in the US. What's not to love? Not to mention, browse their website for a moment and you will see just how adorable their designs are. The pictures above features a few of my favorites as of the moment, but there are so many pieces for so many different styles. I don't normally post about specific companies or promotions, but I made an exception this go 'round because eShakti is truly a company that I love and believe in. They just re-launched with a whole new website and lookbook filled to the brim with stunning pieces. eShakti is offering each of you a $35 giftcard, so be sure to make use of it! Use the code "ALTES35" at check out. The code is only valid until July 10th, so don't miss out!

Also, eShakti has a fashion community, so if you love to share how you style your pieces, or if you just adore swooning over other girl's outfits, definitely check it out!

Love Don't Die

June 17, 2015

Well, perhaps love don't die (quoting the fray ;) but roses sure do. These beauties were standing on their last leg, but I thought I'd try and snap a few pics with them before their final hour. These are the lovely graduation roses that my mom gave to me last week.

I've been busy finding the balance between my retro style and modern trends lately. I have a love for both, so when I stumble across pieces like this organza skirt from Romwe, I get pretty excited ;) This piece makes such a fun, yet classy statement. Not to mention, white is the perfect Summer color for mixing and matching. I paired it with this pink Romwe blouse for a touch of girly color. Ladies, I have a confession. I'm not sure what's come over me. I suddenly have a slight obsession with pink. As they say in Funny Face, "Think Pink!"

Let There Be Light

June 10, 2015

Today I am super excited to review my new lighting kit from My Backdrop Shop on Etsy! Some of you have probably heard me complain about the poor lighting conditions in my videos. Well today that finally changes! This lighting kit included three soft boxes. Set up was generally easy, the first soft box was a bit tricky but I got the hang of it, and the last two were a breeze. Overall I really like the kit- it helps tremendously in maintaining an even light in my videos (especially helpful for makeup tutorials). One thing I didn't care for was that one of the rods I used for set up didn't fit into the light head properly, the metal portion was too large. I'm not sure if this could be fixed by sanding it down, but nonetheless, it is a bit of a drag. I went ahead and filmed a makeup tutorial, which will be at the end of this post. You can see the soft boxes in action! If you are interested in picking up a lighting kit yourself, you can get 20% off with the code, "GRAND20"
