Blogs Worth Following // Spring 2014

March 30, 2014

Some of my biggest sources of inspiration are other bloggers. There is such an incredible bunch of talented women out in the blogosphere. I put together this little roundup of blogs I am currently crushing on- there are several others (a lot of you girls who follow my blog are daily reads of mine), but today I am hoping to introduce some new blogs to you all. A few of these are well known, style icons in the blogging world, and others are emerging stars <3

Ashley's blog is a mix of style savvy, adorable and beautiful photographs! I can't get over her perfect Deschanel status bangs, and never ceasing creativity! She was recently featured over at the Anthropologie blog, along with her quirky collection of fake food (I'm getting hungry here ;)
Every time I see a new post from Polly I get over the moon excited! This girl puts together some fantastic outfits, and she always thinks of the most creative poses! Plus, can you beat that incredible vintage suitcase collection?
Esme's blog is just a breath of fresh air! Her vintage style is superb, and her photos are always so light and beautiful- they inspire me for Spring and Summer! Plus her hair styles and retro style makeup jobs are too perfect for words!
I could literally shout from the rooftops how much I love this blog! Harlow is such a beauty both inside and out- her photos are drop dead gorgeous (what caught my eye when I first discovered her blog) and her outfits are a vision of loveliness!
This lovely lady has an incredible ability to capture a nostalgic feel in both her outfits and her photographs. Looking at her posts makes you feel like you are reading a photo journal of memories!
Adorable Londoner and personal style blogger- plus she sports one amazing beehive hairdo, and a gallery of gorgeous, scenic photographs of European sites.
Carley's outfits are perfect, and so are the locations she photographs them in! Plus she is an absolute sweetheart <3
This blog is a new find of mine- since literally a few days ago! I was instantly drawn in by the incredible photography, creative content and outstanding ensembles.
OK, well maybe this one's a no brainer- but Carrie has been incredible since the day I discovered her blog. She's one of the original bloggers that took the leap of faith back when blogging first became a "thing." Her photography is breathtaking- Wish Wish Wish literally is like an online magazine.
The Cinnamon Slipper
Killer cuteness here! Rebecca's got retro style with a touch of kitsch- it doesn't get better than that! In love with this milkshake print dress she's sporting in this photo- and that adorable diner!
Ahoy Miss
It's cotton candy dream land over at Danielle's baby pink and blue splashed blog. Talk about sweet Spring styling! And how many girls do you know that can rock that awesome hair?
Well that's all for now- you girls had better get blog hopping because you won't be sorry!

The Best Thing a Girl Can Be

March 26, 2014

I've been obsessed over all things 1920s lately- primarily because of the clothes (surprise, surprise ;). I love the glamour and attention to detail- and it may come as little shock to hear that I love The Great Gatsby
(haven't seen the new movie or read the book) with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. I always get a kick out of it when Daisy says, "That's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."

In the roaring 20's spirit, I decided to slip on this lovely flapper reproduction dress from House of Recollections. I've been in search of a pretty replica dress for a while- House of Recollection's pieces can't be beat. For one thing, they are gorgeous- truly some of the loveliest reproduction 20s dresses I've found. For another, this dress is super lightweight and comfortable- perfect for Spring and Summer.

Wasn't this a lucky find!? We were just driving along when we stumbled across this gorgeous little meadow of daffodils- talk about Spring! It was the prettiest when the light would hit them because they literally glow.

Put a Flower in Your Hair

Top of the mornin' to ya'! Well, I guess it's not St. Patrick's day anymore, but I'm in a bit of a festive mood ;) I have been so over the moon excited about this post! I have always wanted to do a photo shoot with a vintage swimsuit, and finally here we are! This amazing piece was sent to me courtesy of The Vintage Domain, a Canada based Etsy shop. This online store is really so lovely- there's really so much to choose from! You can find anything from vintage clothing to books and housewares. This swimsuit cam exactly as described- perfect condition ( again amazing for a garment from the 1950s), it looked as though it had never been worn. I took it along with my on my Hawaii trip- Jenna and I even did some photos there with it, but sadly I timed it wrong and they came out a bit too dark ( shame on me!) Thankfully, living in Cali has it's perks, one of them being that you can drive to the coast and do a lovely beach shoot right here!

Adventures in Hawaii

March 16, 2014

Aloha! Well, I'm back! Maui was both beautiful and exotic- the landscape is drop dead gorgeous and the experience was one of a kind! Those of you who follow me on Instagram were probably crazed by my incessant posting ( I believe I posted about sixteen shots one day), but when there are so many photo-worthy places, how could I resist?

The water of course is incredible- crystal clear and warm. The weather is really the craziest thing- one moment it's sunny, the next it's sprinkling rain. Jenna and I were there right during the whale migration, so we were lucky enough to see a ton of whales, both whale watching, and from the resort we were staying at. Best of all, the beach in the picture above was like sea turtle central- haha! One swam literally inches away from Jenna and I- it was so gorgeous and huge- some lady was following him down the beach yelling, " sea turtle behind you, don't touch it!" Gah- cooky lady kept me from petting a sea turtle haha!

We went in search of a black sand beach, but unfortunately found ourselves a bit off course. Thankfully there's no harm in finding cool new locations on Maui. Get a load of these lava cliffs! Poor Jenna was a good enough sport to follow me up to the top ( I have this thing about hikes and climbing stuff- I just can't help myself sometimes ;). But you can't beat this view, or the chance to take a shot of your feet at the edge of a volcanic rock cliff!

See the sea turtle up there? Isn't he awesome? He was just swimming around in the water below, asking for his picture to be taken ;)

Anyhoo- that's the round up of the 800+ pictures I shot in Hawaii. It was sad leaving, but I am happy to be home safely in So Cal. I brought back a lobster red sunburn, some bug bites and the memories of a lifetime. It was an unforgettable week and it has me excited to do more exploring in this beautiful world God has made!

A huge thank you to the Condon family for making this incredible trip possible! It has been unforgettable and an unbelievable blessing. I am so very grateful for your kindness and your friendship!
