2013 in Review

December 30, 2013

2013 is officially drawing to a close. Like any year, it's been filled with trying times, joys, heartaches, beautiful memories and new beginnings. I am happy to say that I can look back on 2013 with gratefulness- for my family, friends and most importantly God in my life. I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 brings!

In a World of White

December 24, 2013

Merry Christmas, Darlings! The ground is white, and the day is beautiful here in So Cal! I've got to say- this was the most miserable shoot I have ever done as far as being cold, but I'll do most anything to get a good photo session- haha! Thankfully my recent cold/flu wasn't furthered by the weather, and now I am sitting in a warm house, so no complaints here!

This dress is such a special piece. If anyone ever wanted to feel like a mid-century Disney princess, this would be the dress. It's actually a 1950s wedding gown, but due to the length I was able to wear it to a Christmas ball a few days ago- it was undoubtedly a conversation piece, something I always love to do when I'm wearing vintage :) I found it at a beautiful little Etsy shop called Folk & Fables. The minute I saw it, I knew I had to feature the shop on the blog. It really is one of those Etsy stores that is so professional and makes you want to purchase from them. You can really tell that shop owner, Tawni, puts a lot of hard work into her business. The dress came just as described, which is definitely always a plus!

So this was embarrassing- after spending 15 minutes trying to hang ornaments on this tree with frozen fingers, we walked away and completely forgot about them. An hour later, we came walking back down the road to find a ranger pulling the ornaments off the tree! Oops- that was an accident. We just kept walking- it was worth losing four ornaments to not have to own up to our holiday "graffiti" haha!

This lovely little fascinator was sent to me courtesy of Castle Memories. I thought it added the perfect touch to this outfit, and I dressed it up a bit with a 50's crystal brooch. It's only $12 and it can be ordered as a comb, headband, or an alligator clip.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Good morning my Dears! Christmas is nearing so very quickly! We made it to a Christmas tree farm- this one in particular has had my attention since I went a few years ago. The lot is in the middle of a forest of trees, and the smell is incredible. There's nothing like the scent of fresh pine trees. On the weekends they give out free cookies and cider, which I think is a really sweet touch.

This unique, mint 1960s coat is from Glass that Rocks. I love the details on this piece, the crystal buttons, the color, and the silky material. It has such a Jackie O' feel to it, or princess Kate ;) Glass that Rocks is stocked with bunches of amazing antiques and vintage pieces, so you can decorate your home in a retro style, or your wardrobe! The customer service is fantastic as well- I highly recommend stopping by!

The busyness of the season is really crazy this year. Suddenly it seems as though I've gone from nothing to do, to desperately trying to cram everything in! It's normal. of course, for the days before Christmas to be nutty- I just need to organize my thoughts before I explode or something- haha!

By the way, if you haven't already, be sure and enter the Rose Gal giveaway! Another thing I wanted to mention was that the tattoo on my leg in the last post was not real! I had someone mention that and I realized, "oops, I should have clarified!" They were just a pair of tights with a print on them :)

This is a really exciting post for me because I had the opportunity to style the beautiful "Anna" dress from Mrs. Pomeranz's winter collection. I've been an admirer or Mrs. Pomeranz dresses for some time now- they are all so incredibly beautiful and unique! This dress reminds me of a piece I would find at Macy's. The quality is just too amazing- every seam is sewn to perfection, and the fabric is light enough to be comfortable, yet thick enough to be warm for the cold weather. The custom made dress can be found on Etsy, and the ready to wear dresses can be purchased here. You can also keep up on all of the updates at the Mrs. Pomeranz blog! There is also a beautiful video that showcases all of the Fall/Winter dresses- you can view it at the bottom of this post :)

I've been busy trying to build up a vintage glove and purse collection lately- I realized how important accessories are to a vintage ensemble. Last week I received an adorable, red leather, 1950s purse from MKMAK- one of these days I will have to style it with an outfit on here.

How stinkin' cute is this necklace? I discovered it at Hawthorne Hill about a month or so ago and almost had a mini heart attack ( just kidding ;). But seriously- could it be much more perfect for Christmas? If you want to pick up your own, it's only $10.95 and so much fun to wear!

I swear, I wear this mod little 1960s coat all of the time. It is from a lovely Etsy shop called, Sydney's Vintage. Everything is so reasonably priced, it's a fun shop to browse through! This particular coat matches with a lot as well, which makes it very practical, since I don't have enough closet space for a bunch of bulky coats. Do stop by when you find the time- it's a really nice shop to find vintage treasures! You can get 10% off your order with the code, "TENNER"
