California is ridden with incredible third-wave coffee shops and funky little restaurants. Whenever I come back to visit family, I like to...
Hi! I just found your blog and I'm completely in love. Your photos are great. I'm saving up for a camera and I was wondering what type you use?
Have a lovely day!

Thank you Danna! I use a canon rebel T3i ( not to be confused with a T3) with a canon 50 mm 1.4 lens. Hope that helps!
Hi, I've been following your blog for a while & love it! I'm in a wheelchair & have been wanting to do more fashion posts on my (teeny tiny) blog but I'm struggling with getting good photos - the best fashion photos always seem to be about movement & clean lines, neither of which are easy to come by in a wheelchair...do you gave any advice on how I could improve photo quality?
Thank you very much :)
Sally

Sally, your blog is so adorable and inspiring! I'm so glad to hear from you and discover your site <3 I think it's amazing that despite difficult circumstances, you have the confidence to be positive and continue to do the things you love! One thing that does come to mind would be the angles you shoot photos with. Angles change everything when it comes to the composition of a photograph. For example, instead of a straight on shot, try having your photographer stand to one side of the chair looking down- it will have a flattering effect on your outfit, facial features, everything! That's just one example, but I would encourage you to experiment with those angles and see if it doesn't help. I am now following your blog- keep smiling! God loves you SO much, Darling!!

I have just come across your blog and I am very impressed at your beautiful outfits. Your review of the year was most impressive and I just love your style.
If I may can I ask a question - do you wear trousers (pants) I have not seen you in trousers in your posts. I was brought up in a strong Christian home and never wore trousers until last year when I bought my first pair of black trousers in my mid 30s. I was encouraged by some friends who were also starting to wear trousers after being exclusively dress/skirts wearers.
I still feel a little strange wearing trousers but they are comfortable. I have started to do some office work recently and most of the other women wear trousers so it is good not to be the odd one out.
I feel that I may wear trousers more in 2014 and probably get some more pairs.
I don't feel there is anything wrong in Christian women wearing trousers providing they are modest. I would never wear skinny jeans or leggings - I just don't like the image.
I would welcome your opinion
May God be with you
Rebecca
Hello Rebecca! It is lovely to hear from you! And thank you for the kind words <3 It is funny you should mention that- even in every day life, I wear dresses and skirts nearly 100% off the time. However, I do wear jeans when I am too tired to put in a lot of effort on an outfit, or if the occasion is something where I may be getting dirty, like hiking of course- haha! I am hoping to be styling some 1950s style pants/trousers this year on the blog. So I suppose, to answer you question, I completely agree with you! I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing pants, I just tend not to wear them because I love dresses more. I hope that helps!
Hello! Unusual question. I came across your work through Mrs.Pomeranz, and was wondering if you could give me the identity of a certain model you worked with. She's here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/164280709/anna-custom-made-blue-linen-dress-by-mrs?ref=listing-shop-header-0
Hi Natalie,
I am not sure who the girl in the first shot is- I wasn't the photographer for those photographs, only the one in the snow- which would be me haha! Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I am sure Dasha (owner of Mrs. Pomeranz) would be able to assist you better on that one :)
Oh, apologies for bothering you! I misunderstood the text at the bottom of the description to mean that you were the photographer. Thank you for answering. :)
Hello! I found your blog from your Modcloth photo with the black vintage swimsuit. Just lovely and had me scouring modcloth for an hour trying to find the suit! Is that a true vintage piece or is it available someplace for purchase? I love it!
Hi Lynne! Oh my, I am so sorry- I hate it when you find something you love and can't find it to save your life- haha! The swimsuit is an authentic 1950s piece, so unfortunately it can't be purchased at ModCloth. They do however, have some adorable swimsuits that are retro style! Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be. I have several of the mod cloth suits and adore them but literally gasped at that one! Lucky find for you!! :)

Hi! I just came across your blog and I absolutely love your style. If I may ask - where do you get all of your amazing clothes?
@maggie Aw, thank you! Mostly Etsy- it's a great place to find vintage!
Hello! I am absolutely in love with your photography. It's unusual when you find a fashion blog that also endeavours to create beautifully composed images (I am hoping I will one day get to that point). Nevertheless, my question for you is whether or not you take the photos of yourself, and if you use a tripod? I am currently doing so and finding it a challenge to get nice angles. If you do take the photos yourself, do you have any suggestions? If not, how did you go about finding a photographer? I would also like to know if you use actions on your images and which ones... because they are truly awesome. Finally, (I feel like I am interviewing you here haha) how long did it take for you to blog before you were approached by sponsors?
Thank you for your time and all the best,
Josée

@joseepassertout Thank you so much! Most of the time I have either my sister or my mom take the pictures. I am a professional photographer, so I do the camera settings and have them snap the shot ;)I would challenge you to start studying photo work you like- try to see what it is that you like about a certain image, and try to incorporate those angles/poses/elements into your shots!
Good news on the actions- I don't use any! I use a website called ipiccy.com- it's free and has a lot of features that photoshop does. I typically use the curves tool for highlight and contrast, the vibrance tool and the mascara tool for sharpening images. You can re-create the black and whites on my site by turning your photo black and white and then using the cinema scope tool without the frame (you will know what I mean when you start playing with it).
As for sponsors- it was about a year and a half in when I finally started getting contacted by anyone- it takes a lot of social media marketing, taking the time to be diligent about content etc to be noticed, but worth it!
Hope this helps!
That helped a lot! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
All the best,
Josée

I so enjoy your blog and all the pretty clothes you wear. I am always amazed at all the wonderful thrifted clothes you find. I love your red lipstick. (ex. "White Christmas" post.) What brand and shade do you wear? Thank you!
@Lisa Thank you so much! It's Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw, and it is seriously the best red lipstick ever. I am obsessed with my reds and have tried everything from drugstore, to MAC, to Nars and this is the best one - amazing staying power, perfect shade, easy and precise application - love, love love!
