In a World of White

December 24, 2013

Merry Christmas, Darlings! The ground is white, and the day is beautiful here in So Cal! I've got to say- this was the most miserable shoot I have ever done as far as being cold, but I'll do most anything to get a good photo session- haha! Thankfully my recent cold/flu wasn't furthered by the weather, and now I am sitting in a warm house, so no complaints here!

This dress is such a special piece. If anyone ever wanted to feel like a mid-century Disney princess, this would be the dress. It's actually a 1950s wedding gown, but due to the length I was able to wear it to a Christmas ball a few days ago- it was undoubtedly a conversation piece, something I always love to do when I'm wearing vintage :) I found it at a beautiful little Etsy shop called Folk & Fables. The minute I saw it, I knew I had to feature the shop on the blog. It really is one of those Etsy stores that is so professional and makes you want to purchase from them. You can really tell that shop owner, Tawni, puts a lot of hard work into her business. The dress came just as described, which is definitely always a plus!

So this was embarrassing- after spending 15 minutes trying to hang ornaments on this tree with frozen fingers, we walked away and completely forgot about them. An hour later, we came walking back down the road to find a ranger pulling the ornaments off the tree! Oops- that was an accident. We just kept walking- it was worth losing four ornaments to not have to own up to our holiday "graffiti" haha!

This lovely little fascinator was sent to me courtesy of Castle Memories. I thought it added the perfect touch to this outfit, and I dressed it up a bit with a 50's crystal brooch. It's only $12 and it can be ordered as a comb, headband, or an alligator clip.

Scarf & gloves: gift
Ring: Kohls
Fascinator: c/o Castle Memories
Clutch: Mecca Fox
Shoes: Payless
Shoe Clips: Shoe Clips Only
Necklace & Earrings: great grandmother's

You don't look really miserable, you succeeded making it seem like you don't suffer from the cold! the ranger story pulling off the ornaments from the tree was pretty funny :P

This is all absolutely stunning! I love white and red for Christmas, and I can't believe the ranger took time to take the ornaments down! I can't imagine you'd get into much trouble for sprucing up the place a bit...haha.

You must have been the belle of the ball! Simply gorgeous! It's only a matter of time before you are "discovered" and hit the big time! I'll be able to say, "I knew her when...." Your sets are always magical. How do you come up with such great ideas like creating your own blizzard (last photo) ha ha! I hope your Christmas is as magical as you are Alex!

Wow! It's so fun to hear of another fellow blogger who got to enjoy the splendors of a Christmas Ball!! As my sister said, we are excitedly anticipating ours and hoping it will be one glorious occasion!

I must say, you do have an eye for vintage finds. However this dress tops every other one you have featured yet! But maybe that's because a wedding dress is supposed to have that affect, ha ha! I adore it immensely!!!

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, & a Happy New Year, Alexandra!!!

Absolutely gorgeous as always Alex! That dress is divine. I love the shot of you with the ornaments, and the one at the end with the snow. So beautiful :)

Perfection! Love every single detail. In fact, I would love to purchase a fascinator in cobalt blue for my upcoming 10th Wedding Anniversary. Can you tell me what you opted for as far as whether it was a clip or a comb? And how did you secure the brooch in your hair, bobbies?

Alexandra Marie said...

Hi Stephanie! I went with the comb, though, if I could do it over, I would have gone for the alligator clip due to the fact that I have short hair. So what I ended up doing was securing the comb with bobby pins :)
