Roses and Chalkboads
April 21, 2012 • challenges, Fashion, home, Outfits, Spring
Funny title isn't it? Roses and Chalkboards... both chic and timeless. It would then make sense that they should be used in an fashion post, no? ha ha. Sooo, needless to say I did a few fun pics with both. The skirt I am wearing is really a sundress. I just folded down the bodice. Worked great! At least with this style of dress. I was sort of lazy today and only edited a few of the pics. BTW, I took these with my self timer and tripod, so that is why the quality stinks ( as it does on all of my outfit posts) :-b lol
My pc has been out for a few days because a dog chewed up my battery cord, so I haven't posted much recently.

Think First
April 19, 2012 • bible studies, Bible Verses, home
How easy is it to do stuff without thinking? That nagging conscience that you push off your shoulder. That little voice that tells you to think first.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
The world can be super distracting. I think we could all afford to brush up on the word distracting.
I looked it up in a dictionary and found three relevant definitions.
Distracting
1. To draw away or divert, as the mind or attention
2. To provide a pleasant diversion for; amuse; entertain
4. To separate or divide by strife.
What do we gain by understanding these three definitions? Well let's take a closer look. We learn that distracting means to draw away. How does this relate to Christianity? The answer is pretty simple, by falling prey to distraction we draw away from God. Let's look at the second definition. Here we can see that the word distracting means to 'provide a pleasant diversion for.' Why would anyone fall prey to distraction if it wasn't pleasant? In fact, why would anyone fall prey to sin in general if it wasn't pleasant or amusing? But it's the last definition that catches my attention most of all, ' to separate or divide by strife.'
While distractions appear to be entertaining, or amusing, the end will result in strife or division from God. Sound a little extreme? It's not. The little things that we allow ourselves to be distracted by only will lead to sin. And the more we find ourselves distracted, the farther we find ourselves from God.
So here's something to think about; when distraction becomes a temptation, don't brush that little voice away. Listen. Pray immediately that God would help you to keep your eyes on Him.
