The Right Perspective

January 19, 2012

1 Peter 3:3-4
“Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” (NLT)
This verse is so true! It is so easy in this day in age to become consumed with outward appearance. Always trying to keep up with the latest is tiring and distracting from God.  Looks should not be everything.

 1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

It is also important to dress nicely, and by this I mean not dressing sloppy. This is partly why I post outfits frequently-- so that you can see that it is still possible to dress appropriately while still being fashionable and remaining well put-together. It is important to dress modestly. Be sure to consider that you are also setting yourself up to stumble other people.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness

Verse for the week:
 Proverbs 31:30

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
